What is essence, and what is form?

To put it simply, form is the vessel, and essence is the content. You can have a beautiful restaurant with fine dishes, a lovely interior, and nice waiters, but the food there is tasteless. Or you could have a simple diner with delicious food. The food is the essence, and everything else is the form: the wrapping, the presentation.
Some people dress fashionably to mask their worthlessness, while others dress well because they have a taste. Some seek relationships to escape from life because it's hard to deal with what they have. While others want relationships to truly live.
Some do the right things and obey because they are ashamed or afraid to do anything wrong. Others do so because they feel others and understand the deeper meaning behind it.
Actions, words, and decisions are not the essence; they are the vessels in which we pour our drink, which is the essence.
We can devalue good wine if it’s in the wrong vessel, and pretend that bad wine is great if it’s presented beautifully.
However, often it’s enough to honestly ask yourself or someone else...
What did you feel when you did that? What was behind it?
